TrinityTalent's ATS resume checker is free, deterministic and runs in your browser: it reads your resume against a fixed set of rules drawn from published university career-centre guidance, names each problem, cites the source, and gives you a button that lands on the exact field to fix. It does not send your resume to a model to "score" it, and it never invents a number.
What the checker looks for
- Action verbs. Bullets that open with a weak verb, or repeat the same verb, are flagged against a published verb table. The suggested replacements come from the same table, so the checker can never mark a verb weak and then propose it.
- Evidence. Bullets with no figure, hard skills that no bullet backs, and a summary that never names your target role.
- Format rules that break parsers. A missing location, mixed numerals and number words, inconsistent bullet punctuation, and paragraphs that used to be several bullets — the checker splits those back deterministically.
- Completeness. No LinkedIn URL, too few listed skills, missing education, and for students, relevant coursework that is not there yet.
- Document accessibility. A collapsed section runs an accessibility scan of the rendered document, because a resume a screen reader cannot read is also one some parsers mangle.
Why there is no "ATS score" number
Most checkers show a percentage. TrinityTalent shows the list. A single number hides which rule fired and why, and it tempts people to chase the number instead of the reader. When you tailor a resume to a posting, the checker does report a measured keyword scan — which terms from the posting appear, which appear in different wording, which are truly absent — because that is a measurement, not an estimate.
Every finding carries the next move
"Zero of twenty-three hard skills are backed by a bullet" is true and leaves you stuck. Each finding here says what to do, and a "Do it now" button opens the editor on that role, that bullet or that field, with the advice pinned beside it. The fix is yours to write; the checker gets you to the right line.

No. The checker is a rules engine that runs in your browser. Only the optional writing assists — rewriting a bullet, tailoring to a posting — send text to a model, and each one is a separate button you press.
